Safety Guide

Your safety matters more than any match. Here's everything you need to know to date smart and stay protected.

How Geesly Protects You

Before we get into personal safety tips, here's what Geesly does automatically to keep the platform safe:

AI Photo Screening

Every photo uploaded to Geesly is automatically analyzed by Google Cloud Vision AI. We screen for explicit content, violent imagery, images of minors, and spam/promotional material. Photos that violate our policies are instantly rejected before anyone sees them.

Spam & Scam Detection

Our messaging system automatically blocks URLs, phone numbers, and repeated spam messages. This prevents scammers from sending phishing links or harvesting your contact information through the chat system.

Report & Block Tools

One-tap reporting sends the last 20 messages to our moderation team along with the reason for reporting. Blocking a user immediately hides both profiles from each other and prevents any further contact.

Automatic Banning

Users who receive 50 or more reports are automatically and permanently banned from the platform. This community-driven moderation system helps quickly remove bad actors.

World ID Verification

Users can optionally verify their identity through World ID, which adds a verified badge to their profile. This helps you identify real people and builds trust before you start chatting.

Data Protection

All data is encrypted in transit with TLS/SSL. We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA. If you ever want to leave, account deletion removes everything within 45 seconds — permanently.

Protecting Your Profile

Keep Personal Details Off Your Bio

Your bio should be fun and engaging, but avoid including your full name, workplace address, daily schedule, or neighborhood. Share these details later once you've built trust with someone through conversation.

Use Photos Unique to Geesly

If possible, use photos that aren't on your other social media profiles. A reverse image search can link your dating profile to your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn — giving strangers access to much more information than you intended to share.

Be Mindful of Photo Backgrounds

Check your photos for identifying details in the background: house numbers, street signs, workplace logos, school names, or car license plates. These small details can reveal your location or identity.

Use a Strong, Unique Password

If you sign up with email, use a password you don't use anywhere else. Consider using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In for an extra layer of security through their established authentication systems.

Chatting Safely

Take Your Time

There's no rush. Get to know someone through Geesly's in-app chat before exchanging phone numbers or social media. Scammers often push for off-platform communication quickly because it's harder for us to protect you there.

Watch for Red Flags in Conversations

Be cautious of people who: avoid answering direct questions, give inconsistent stories about themselves, pressure you to meet immediately, ask for money or financial help, send overly generic messages that feel copy-pasted, or claim to be in love after just a few messages.

Never Send Money

No matter how convincing the story, never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial information to someone you've met on a dating app. Romance scammers are skilled at building emotional connections before making financial requests. This is the most common dating scam worldwide.

Report Suspicious Behavior

If someone makes you uncomfortable, don't hesitate to use the report button. Your report is anonymous — the other person won't know you reported them. Our moderation team reviews every report, and your action helps protect the entire community.

Meeting In Person

When you're ready to take things offline, these precautions will help ensure your first meeting goes smoothly and safely:

Always Meet in Public

Choose a busy public place for your first few dates — a coffee shop, restaurant, park, or popular venue. Avoid going to someone's home or inviting them to yours until you've met in person multiple times and feel genuinely comfortable.

Tell Someone Your Plans

Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share the other person's profile or name with your trusted contact. Consider checking in with them during the date.

Arrange Your Own Transportation

Drive yourself, take public transit, or use a rideshare service. Don't rely on your date for transportation — having your own way to leave gives you full control over your situation at all times.

Stay Sober and Alert

Keep your alcohol consumption to a minimum on first dates, and never leave your drink unattended. Being alert allows you to make clear-headed decisions and notice anything that feels off.

Trust Your Instincts

If something feels wrong, it probably is. You are never obligated to stay on a date out of politeness. Make an excuse, leave, and contact a friend. Your safety is always more important than someone else's feelings.

How to Spot Fake Profiles

While Geesly's AI screening and community moderation catch most fake profiles, it's still smart to know the warning signs:

  • Only 1-2 photos, all looking professional or model-like: Real people usually have a mix of casual and polished photos. If every shot looks like a magazine cover, be cautious.
  • Empty or vague bio: A profile with no bio or a generic one-liner ("just ask me") shows minimal effort. Real people looking for connections usually share something about themselves.
  • Immediate push to move off-app: If someone's first message asks you to text them on WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other platform, they may be trying to avoid Geesly's safety systems.
  • Too good to be true: If someone seems perfect in every way and is overly eager to escalate the relationship, slow down. Building genuine connections takes time.
  • No World ID verification: While verification is optional, a verified badge adds a layer of trust. Consider prioritizing verified profiles for your matches.
